How Sports Betting Works
Sports betting means placing a bet on the result of a match or race, or on a number inside it, such as total goals. Each type of bet is called a market, and every market settles on a clear rule: who won, by how many, or how many goals were scored.
Every bet has odds. The odds show how much a winning bet returns on your stake, and the same price can be written in different formats; the table below converts a few example prices. The stake is the amount you bet, and a bet slip lists your pick, odds and stake before the bet is placed.
Common football markets are 1X2 (home, draw or away), Asian handicap, over/under and mix parlay, which combines several picks into one bet. For a plain-language overview, read what a sportsbook is.
A bet can be placed before a match starts (pre-match) or, on some sportsbooks, while it is being played (live betting). Which events and markets are open at Go2win is as explained on the page after you log in.
